In Cisowa, there were three inhabited houses left, in Nowa Dabrowa not much more - five. Deserted villages are overgrown with forest. There are more abandoned villages in the Kampinos Forest, national park located on the outskirts of Warsaw, listed on the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve List.

When the national park was established in the late 1950s, its borders included 71 villages inhabited by 16,000 people. Today, not even 2 thousand people live there. Since the 1970s, the park management has been systematically purchasing land from the residents in order to protect the park's nature, but the location of Kampinos so close to the capital city makes it one of the most attractive areas to live in. And although life in the middle of the forest is not easy, Warsaw's millionaires are more and more willing to settle in the vicinity of deserted villages.
